4Ka xWE will probably need a long lie down once we have sent this edition of The Villages Mag to print. Firstly because it has been a labour of love pulling all the content together for the special centre page spread for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and secondly in preparation for the first weekend in June and the celebrations! The closure of London Road through the centre of the village means on the evening of the Beacon Lighting. We can enjoy our local businesses as we spill out onto the street and watch the event with nearly all of our eateries open for the special date on the Thursday the 2nd June,. What a start to the 4 day weekend! You can also find the plans for Brereton and Goostrey, there really is going to be plenty of celebrations going on across our villages. If that wasn’t enough we have some articles in this edition on some great local businesses, including the team behind Holmes Sweet Home, plumbers’ merchants ROK and I also meet Karl from Fully Wired. You’ll also find our usual techy page, local history and Rich from the Bottle Bank completes this series on coffee (Which may be of some use after all the partying!)If you are looking for something else to do in June it is the Middlewich 30th Anniversary Folk & Boat Festival on the weekend of 16-19th, tickets can be purchased on their website www.middlewichfabfestival.co.uk. 6Finding joy in June...WELL, here we are in the summer month of June, and it is a month full of optimism and hope. It is a month where we find ourselves celebrating the Queen’s platinum jubilee and a life well lived. It is a time for celebration but also reflection on our own lives-how we manage the daily challenges and how we refresh our aim when we don’t always get the work-life balance right or overdo things as we get a bit older. As we continue to navigate our way through this new phase of the pandemic that held us captive for so long, its time to consider what our priorities are with our increasing and welcome freedoms, whilst being mindful that for those who are clinically vulnerable, covid is still making the rounds and its helpful to be aware of that. We see this in the GP surgeries and other venues where we are still continuing to where a mask and sanitise.I feel that we have come through so much and learnt a great deal about our resilience and flexibility. Appreciating a simpler , less demanding way of life, getting closer to nature, and immersing ourselves in the beauty of nature in all its resplendent glory as the summer unfolds. We have much to celebrate and much to be mindful of.So it’s a question of balance – for those of you who are , enjoying the freedom of doing so much more or those who are struggling to return to every day living and seeing more people etc-it’s important to find the balance that feels right for you.I would recommend only focusing on the present as much as possible with appreciation and gratitude for our own stamina that has brought us to this point and not look too far ahead or returning to those very long ‘to do ‘lists-less is often more. Pacing yourself and giving yourself the space in between work and hobbies to relax and rejuvenate is so important for overall wellbeing.‘ Looking ahead for many feels like a daunting prospect at the moment because we have lived with so much uncertainty and as you continue to do more so your confidence will grow .You can always be certain of the present moment experience and focus on the things that are within your control, such as keeping healthy, eating healthy foods, limiting alcohol, exercising a little more, and socialising more with friends we’ve not seen for a while-just taking each day a step at a time.Taking stock as you look back, and grounding in the new freedoms you have now, perhaps it’s an opportunity to let go of habits, chores, hobbies that don’t interest you as much/do not serve you so well now.Take time to reflect on what matters to you, what brings you joy, who makes you smile, and do more of what gives your life meaning and purpose. Look forward to the days and months ahead one gentle step at a time.Take time to really enjoy nature in the garden, down the lane, in the park-savour the moments of peace that nature gives.Find new ways to be creative.Learn new hobbies and skills.Keep connected with friends and family.Wishing you all safe, well, and happy for this summer month of June!Annette Boden

12TVM meets...IN 2022, smart home systems and devices are more impressive than ever. This is something my husband and I have dabbled with over the last year using Siri through our phones for music or timing the chips in the oven, but that’s about as far as we have ever taken it. So I caught up with Karl Brown from Fully Wired to pick his brains on the subject. Karl admits he is a bit of a geek when it comes to this sort of thing, but he is also an expert in his field, being a fully qualified and experienced electrician. He explains that you can be on a sunbed in Spain and control your garden lights, turn off your heating or even answer the door through a camera and speaker. The great thing about turning your home ‘smart’ is that you can manage your security, monitor your pets when you pop out or even keep an eye on a loved one (with their permission!).Karl started his business Fully Wired in 2020. As a youngster he trained and qualified as an electrician and then went on to work for large businesses in their engineering departments, climbing the corporate ladder to management until redundancy gave him the inspiration and opportunity to follow his dream of running his own company. One of this first jobs was to get himself NAPIT accredited (the National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers), which is the official bit that demonstrates that he is compliant and competent. Then he could start work in homes and businesses. Karl says he is often training to make sure he is up to date on the latest legislation and technology. He is due to do a course soon fitting electric car chargers as this is something he is being asked for more regularly.Making sure he does high-quality work is his priority, and he enjoys a project he can plan and get his teeth into. He proudly shows me a CCTV scheme for a large property. He has worked with the owner and drawn out a plan outlining the locations of the cameras so they can be confident no area of their home will be missed. His skills and experience mean he can do a range of jobs from installing outside lights and moving sockets, to full rewires, modern lighting designs and (of course) smart homes.Karl has grown his business over the last two years through The Villages Mag and word of mouth. He says it’s great when people recommend him; it makes him feel satisfied that he is doing something well. “When I get a call from a relative or a friend of a customer I feel happy, because I know I they have referred me because they trust that I can do a good job and I am reliable”.I will have to arrange for Karl to come back and make my home smart enough to change our beds and mop the floor. Hopefully there will be some technology soon to save me doing housework, but until that day comes I have his number for all the other electrical jobs we need doing. Katy

16Our local heritage...BY now you will probably be aware that Holmes Chapel did not mark the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 with parties in the street, as in other communities, but with a tea party, sports and dance at Saltersford Hall School. The school closed in 1954 and the Hall sold at auction, but it was demolished soon after. It had had several uses during the century of its existence. It was built as a family home by Rev Thomas Hodges, one of the sons of the long serving vicar of the same name, who lived at Lane Ends House. Thomas lived at Saltersford from 1839 until his death in 1864 and the house was inherited by his daughter Anna Maria Toler, wife of another prominent landowner. The Tolers lived there until the 1880s, but by 1891 it was leased to a tenant. In 1895 the Hall became something entirely different – it was leased to the recently formed County Council and became a residential Agricultural and Horticultural College, affiliated to Manchester University. The census in 1911 recorded 37 students, some of them from as far away as Portugal, South Africa and St Petersburg, and 15 staff. The College had impressive facilities with a 100 acre farm and extensive gardens and taught to a high level, but it was during the First World War that its work assumed even greater importance. When the Women’s Land Army was established in January 1917 the College was one of the locations for four week intensive courses in agriculture, horticulture, dairy and poultry work with placements at local farms. The first cohort of 45 girls in uniform started their training in May 1917 and there were five intakes in total. However, this interlude was not enough to correct the deteriorating financial situation at the College, and the decision to close it was taken even before the end of the War. Fortunately for Cheshire, the County Council purchased the Reaseheath Estate where the Agricultural College continues to thrive. As for Salterford Hall, a new use was found as a temporary annexe to the Bradwall Training School near Sandbach and the first group of 70 boys moved in by the summer of 1918. By 1919 the whole school had relocated and the name Saltersford School was adopted in 1925. It catered for boys from the cities who had fallen foul of the law and been sentenced to a period in a reform school to guide them in a new direction. Training was provided in farming and gardening, the boys attended St Luke’s Church and the school had its own brass band, sports teams and army cadet corps. Villagers were able to use the facilities, including the swimming pool, athletics track and cinema, and the wartime dances for troops billeted in the area featured famous performers such as Ivy Benson’s All Girls Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. One Principal, Mr H Rees, was awarded the OBE for his inspiring work and has a road in Holmes Chapel named after him.So it was not surprising that Saltersford Hall was the main venue for the Coronation celebrations. Unfortunately, the weather was wet on the day, confirming that it was a good choice for the indoor tea party and the dance in the evening!Holmes Chapel U3A Local History Group

22TVM meets...I must admit that the opening of the new dessert and coffee bar on the corner of London Road and Church Walk has been one of the highlights of the year for me in the village.Ever since the building became available to rent, we have all been waiting patiently to see what it would become. Now the doors to Holmes Sweet Home have finally opened, much to the celebration of kids and adults alike! So how did a banker from York and a bar manager from Venezuela find themselves opening a café selling tasty puddings, ice creams and waffles in Holmes Chapel? Simple – they followed their dreams.Steve and Luis moved to the village in 2020 after wanting a slower pace of life having previously lived in Manchester city centre. They happened across Holmes Chapel after exploring another part of Cheshire and fell in love with the village immediately, moving to Blue Bell Green soon after. Luis settled into a job at the George and Dragon and Steve worked his day job from home. Steve tells me he was sitting in the window of Charlie’s Wine Bar one Sunday afternoon and he noticed a scrap of paper in the window of the old charity shop advertising it for rent, and the rest is history. He admits that the process of opening took longer than planned because of the supply chain of some of their equipment: they have scoured items from all over Europe, ice cream counters from Italy and even a special spoon cleaner from Germany. When I meet Steve, a week after they opened, it’s a grey and wet day; however, the wonderfully modern green and pink colours, cosy booths and neon lights have a very warm feeling, and it’s easy to shake off the dullness outside. It might be 9 in the morning, but I am very excited to try a Biscotti Sundae, with toffee sauce and lovely soft ice cream. Their menu also has a mix of great-quality coffees and pastries, and they have plans to expand their breakfast choice to include granola and toasted brioche – the plan is to always be sweet and offer something different to the other venues in the village. Talking of the other venues, Steve says the support he has had has been overwhelming. He counts Sarah from Charlie’s as a close friend now, Alison from Sandwiches Direct has been wonderful, and being part of a growing community and adding to the development of the daytime and evening economy of the village is something they are passionate about. The work they have invested into their little corner of the village is breathtaking, not just in the aesthetics of the place but the menu too, and this is going to be an ever-evolving thing – with ice creams from Cheshire Farm changing regularly and seasonal desserts, like hot pudding in the colder months, including sticky toffee! They are starting to work with Bidlea for other dairy products and aim to always go as local as possible. Even their cookie dough producer is Cheshire based. As the summer months get warmer, I am positive there will be a buzz of people trying their many flavours of ice creams, and I have set myself a challenge to taste them all before September. I am sure with Steve and Luis at the helm this will be very easy to do.Katy

Technology...THE Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has just published a white paper (a policy document) setting out minister Nadine Dorries’s vision for the future of broadcasting in this country. It covers a variety of topics including plans to sell off Channel 4. But what has generated most column inches was the announcement that Dorries will scrap the TV licence from 2028 when the current BBC charter period ends. The paper does not address what would replace it, though it could be anything from pure commercialisation (adverts) to subscription, or a mixture. Other suggestions include a levy on broadband.More immediately, though, the paper confirms that the fee of £159 per year, which took effect in April 2020, is to be frozen for a further two years and then rise only in line with inflation until the end of the charter period. With inflation running currently at 5.1% and forecast to rise to 10% by the end of the year, this is a permanent and damaging reduction in funding amounting to hundreds of millions. The BBC said, ‘Anything less than inflation would put unacceptable pressure on the BBC finances after years of cuts.’In fact, she had announced via Twitter in January:This licence fee announcement will be the last. The days of the elderly being threatened with prison sentences and bailiffs knocking on doors, are over. This argument reveals a great deal. The government was urged to decriminalise non-payment but chose not to last year. Scrapping the licence altogether is hardly the only (or right) solution for this unfairness. When a minister resorts to trash arguments like this, you can be sure there is a different agenda at work.Indeed, Dorries has described the BBC as left-wing, elitist, snobbish, completely outdated and – like many of differing political persuasions – accused it of bias. So not a fan, then. While hardly the first politician to cry ‘fake news’ when criticised, you have to worry at her track record.Similarly, after listing at length the myriad pressures and changes in the industry, from viewing habits to competition from Netflix, Amazon and Apple, the paper states:The proposals set out in this white paper will support British broadcasters in meeting those challenges, ensuring the continued success of our mixed ecology, with public service broadcasters at the heart of our plans. It is, however, silent on how cutting off the funding that allows our UK-based industry to create competitive and distinctive content will enable them to ‘take on competitors’. It is hard to escape the conclusion that Dorries wants to weaken the BBC so there is little protest in 2028. I am sure the BBC will survive no matter how it is funded, but whether it can survive as a flourishing and distinctively British broadcaster, and defend its journalism against political attacks from all sides, may be dependent on how robustly we the viewers, the public who own the Corporation, defend and support it.Andrew, goggleboxtech.uk28

34TVM meets...THE Villages Mag is a family business, my husband and I work together every day; it’s not always easy but I wouldn’t change it for the world, and I am always happy to meet other couples who are in the same situation. So, it was great to spend some time with Gavin and Leigh Cotton, who recently took over ROK Plumbing Supplies, a Plumbers Merchant and Bathroom Showroom in Middlewich - another married couple who spend 99.99% of their time together. Gavin was someone I knew long before he took over ROK Plumbing as he owned a bathroom fitting company called Wych Developments and would always post enviable bathrooms he had completed on his social media. I would take inspiration from his installs and imagine how my own bathroom could look, with the latest colours, styles and designs. Gavin says he was always learning and developing his knowledge and skills, but unfortunately his body couldn’t handle the physical work and after nearly 20 years in the trade his back began to suffer. Now, I am a big believer that everything happens for a reason, and Gavin used to go into ROK Plumbing based on Midbrook Way, off Telford Way, nearly every day for parts and a chat with the then owner Geoff. During one of their conversations, Geoff happened to mention he was ready to retire, and Gavin had a light bulb moment – he decided to take over the shop. ROK Plumbing Supplies and Bathroom Showroom has been open for five years selling everything a plumber or someone handy at DIY would need. They are open to the trade and the public and because of Gavin’s years of experience and knowledge he can help and guide people to make sure they are getting the best part for the job in hand. The Cottons have big plans for the bathroom showroom; it’s very nearly complete and it will be updated regularly as trends and styles change. So far, they have some lovely displays in place, and Leigh has added her own touches so you could imagine how they would look in your own home. Customers can bring their dream bathroom to life as Gavin can measure up the client’s space and Leigh has a wonderful eye and can work with them on designs, as they have a catalogue of bathrooms for every taste and requirement. They can then work with the client’s plumber or introduce them to a fitter to get the very best out of their budget and space. Leigh and Gavin have been married for 10 years this year and have three children together. Leigh is Middlewich born and bred and Gavin is originally from Winsford. As with so many of the businesses I get the honour of speaking to for the magazine, the importance to them of living in, working in and supporting the town is so clear to me. They are a lovely hard-working couple with the motivation to grow their business and do it by being as helpful and knowledgeable as possible, and I am sure their future is bright.Katy

39THE 2022 celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign with the Platinum Jubilee is one of the UK’s major historic events. But although 70 years on the throne is certainly an impressive accomplishment, it has to be said that 96 years of life are perhaps even more so. Her Majesty is the world’s oldest monarch, following the death of His Majesty King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia at the age of 90. So, what have those 96 years been like? The war and the armyQUEEN Elizabeth II was born and named Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, on April 21st 1926. That means that she was 13 years old when WWII started, 14 when her home in Buckingham Palace was bombed in 1940, and by the time the war ended, she had already become a Junior Commander at the ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service) and was training to become a mechanic. As a member of the ATS, she was also the first female of the Royal family to be an active-duty member of the British Armed Forces. And on May 8th, 1945, dressed in that ATS uniform, she snuck out of the palace with her sister Margaret to join the people celebrating the end of the war in the streets of London. In 1985, speaking to the BBC about that night, she said, “I think it was one of the most memorable nights of my life.” Today, Queen Elizabeth is the last surviving head of state to have served during the Second World War.FamilyTWO years after the end of WWII, and six years before she would become queen, Princess Elizabeth was betrothed and married to her distant cousin – Lieutenant Phillip Mountbatten of the Royal Navy. They were married in 1947. He was formerly Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark and, just before they were to be married, was titled Duke of Edinburgh, earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich by Princess Elizabeth’s father. In 1952 she became queen with the passing of her father, then in 1953 was crowned Queen Elizabeth II. At this point, she had already given birth to two of her four children – Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Ten years later in 1960 Prince Andrew would be born, and Prince Edward in 1964. Now, in 2022, those four children have given the Queen eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.The world around herQUEEN Elizabeth II has lived through many changes in the world around her. Many argue that this century actually saw the most change for human civilisation. Especially in terms of technology. She saw the world go from radio and black and white televisions to smartphones and royal social media pages. But, all in all, she has been said to be quite a progressive and embracing monarch as the world changed around her. She was early to email, sending off her first one in 1976, and in 2012 recorded her Christmas message in 3D. The best way to analyse her approach to change is her own words. “Change is a constant,” said the monarch as she addressed Parliament during her Golden Jubilee in 2002, “managing it has become an expanding discipline. The way we embrace it defines our future.”Find out how Holmes Chapel are celebrating on the next page...Looking back at 96 years of life...

50Coffee... Brew time!IN our last visit to the world of coffee, I’m going to offer up a few little tricks that should help you get a great cup of coffee time after time. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a fancy espresso machine, or a 2nd hand cafetiere, but as long as you start off with freshly ground coffee (as fresh as you can get it), you’ll do ok. Note I’m not going to bother including instant granules or pod machines, there’s not a lot I can tell you about that stuff, and as always, the old saying “rubbish in, rubbish out” holds true! The 3 main ways of making a coffee are immersion, infusion, and espresso, the idea being we want to extract as many of the good soluble compounds (flavour/aroma/sweetness) that make up the taste as possible without bringing too many bad compounds (bitterness/sourness/harshness) with it, and we do this by altering the size of the ground coffee, the ratio of water used to extract a certain amount of coffee, and the time and temperature of the brew.Immersion is where we soak the ground coffee in hot (91-93ºC) water for a period of time, typically in a French press or cafetiere. The grind size needs to be medium-coarse here, otherwise too many of the unwanted soluble tastes will come through. The golden ratio for immersion is around 60g of coffee per litre of water, but feel free to play around with this depending on the coffee you like. Pour the water over the coffee, give it a brief stir to make sure it’s all in water, and leave it alone for 3-4 mins. Return to the coffee and scoop off the crust, removing any of the floating grounds, replacing the plunger – but don’t plunge just yet! Wait another 5 mins, gently plunge to halfway down and pour. Your coffee can be drunk instantly, and you’ll have all the nice flavour compounds rather than the bitter ones.Infusion is typically where you pass very hot (97-100ºC) water through a bed of coffee with no extra pressure. These experiences can be very cheap to replicate at home, a V60 dripper (plastic cone with paper filter) can cost a couple of quid. The trick here is to grind a little finer than cafetiere, and do it in stages. 1st, wet the filter paper, and weigh out 17g/1g water/coffee. Make a little well in the middle and pour in 2x the amount of water as you did coffee, covering all the grounds as you do. Swirl it around as you’re doing this, then wait about 45 seconds. Then pour in 2/3 of your remaining hot water slowly over the coffee for about 30 seconds. Take the next 30 seconds or so to pour the remaining 1/3 hot water and give it a little stir. After it’s drained away from the top, give it a little swirl and wait for it to drain fully over 3 mins or so. Espresso is where you pass very hot water (97-100ºC) through a bed of finely ground coffee under pressure to get a shot of coffee. By fine I mean finer than table salt but coarser than flour. There are a couple of ways of making espresso coffees at home, either by way of a dedicated machine, or an Aeropress. Here, the main variables are the ratio of water to coffee, time to brew and the grind of the bean, so start off with 18g of coffee in a 58mm portafilter with a brew length of 27-28 seconds. This should give you around 27g of espresso. Sadly, this way is probably the more difficult to get right first time, but essentially you should be thinking along these lines. If it takes less than 30 seconds to make a coffee, you need to grind it finer. Longer, and dial it back a notch. Doesn’t taste nice, grind a bit coarser and add a touch more coffee. All off this holds true when using a moka pot, or stovetop coffee maker. They give a very good approximation of an espresso, but as it doesn’t reach the pressure the other machines do, it’s just not quite the same.Well, that’s about it for me and coffee. Swing by next issue when I’ll be waffling on about something else you never knew you wanted to know more about!Until then stay safe, be kind, and enjoy your next brew!Rich, The Beer Emporium Bottle Bank

581. Draw a circle on a piece of card. Paper is too thin. The thinner the card, the longer the snake will hang. For a more robust snake, stick A4 paper to something like a cereal box. If you want to decorate the snake’s underside you’ll need to stick paper to the other side of the card from the box too. 2. Draw a head on the outside edge and draw a spiral all the way to middle.3. Decorate your snake on one or both sides of the card.4. Cut the spiral almost to the middle. Leave the last bit uncut as this needs to be where the thread will be fixed.5. Make a hole with a needle or pair of compasses or similar in the very middle. Feed some thread through the hole. The point of a pencil is useful for this. Tie a couple of knots to stop the thread slipping back through the hole. Stick the end down with Sellotape as insurance.6. Hang the snake up and enjoy him spinning in the breeze.More to Explore…1. Look at real snakes and try to copy their markings.2. You can use a spiral and adapt it to anything. How about colouring the spiral with flowers or fish?3. You could make a square into a square spiral. That might make some interesting shadows!Whatever you create, just have fun and no matter if you are young or old.Share your wonderful creations on facebook.com/groups/ArtZone.BagsOfIdeasJo Green, Art-ZoneGet crafting... 62HC Partnership news...Funding The Beacon LightingTHE Parish Council and Holmes Chapel Partnership have jointly funded the closure of a portion of London Road for the Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting event at St. Luke’s Church from 8pm on Thursday 2 June. Feedback from our village Christmas Market event told us how much residents appreciated London Road being pedestrianised for an evening. We hope a similar celebratory atmosphere will be enjoyed for the Beacon Lighting event with residents able to view the Beacon safely from the road and pavements. The closure also gives our wonderful village centre businesses the opportunity to stay open and celebrate with the community.SpeedwatchTHE village Speedwatch team has returned for 2022. This year we have taken the decision to focus on Macclesfield Road where the combination of speeding vehicles and a busy construction site, places pedestrians at increased risk. The data our Speedwatch team collects is being collated by Dane Valley Police as evidence in support of our campaign for safer roads in Holmes Chapel. We would love to Speedwatch on more roads in the village but we do not currently have enough volunteers. If you can spare an hour once a week or once a fortnight to join the team please email projects@hcpartnership.org.uk.Walk to School WeekOUR second Walk to School event took place on 17 May. Look out for a full update in the July edition!Santa’s SleighCHRISTMAS may feel a long way off, but progress has been made on the full rebuild of Santa’s Sleigh which had lost its reindeer sparkle over the years. Thanks to Anwyl Homes’ Community Fund for a generous £1,000 donation to the project. Expect to be dazzled by the 2022 Sleigh later this year!Join us!WE are delighted to have attracted some new members (including the editor of this magazine!) to the Partnership. Their enthusiasm and ideas are helping drive forward our latest projects. We would love to welcome even more Holmes Chapel residents of all ages to the Partnership. Our meetings are held once a month on a Monday evening and members can get involved with whichever projects they choose or lead on one that they are passionate about. Please email projects@hcpartnership.org.uk if you’d like to attend our next meeting. Holmes Chapel Partnershipwww.hcpartnership.org.uk

70TVM travels...Recently on a trip to Scotland we decided to break up the journey and make an overnight stop in Lancaster, where we happened across a great hotel called Lancaster House.Part of the English Lakes group, Lancaster House is a short distance from Junction 33 off the M6 and is a 10-minute drive from Lancaster city centre, located next door to Lancaster University Management School.Having stayed in an English Lakes Hotel before, my expectations were high, and this hotel lived up to them. Lancaster House is a 4-star dog-friendly hotel and is surrounded by fields. Our room was more like a suite with a sliding door separating off a bedroom and seating area with balcony doors opening up to let in the fresh spring air.We had left our two furry family members (and our son) at home, so we had the enjoyment of our spacious room with two large TVs, a beautiful deep free-standing bath, and fluffy robes all to ourselves! Once we had settled in, we made the short drive into the city centre for a wander round.Lancaster has a fascinating, varied and ancient history, the city’s first recorded name, Lancastre, meaning ‘Roman fort on the River Lune’ is recorded in the Domesday book in 1086. Of national importance is Lancaster Castle, a Grade 1 listed building which sits in the centre of the city on a hilltop. It is a small city and, being compact, easily explored. There are a variety of museums – the City Museum in the Market Place (in the old Town Hall), the Judges’ Lodgings, Doll Museum and the Maritime Museum, to name but a few. We spent a few hours exploring and found a cosy pub for a drink before we headed back to the hotel for dinner. We ate our evening meal in hotel restaurant the Foodworks; the food was lovely with a great selection of wine on offer. Tired and very relaxed, after our meal we had a nightcap in the bar by the open fire and enjoyed the atmosphere of the other guests chatting away.In the morning, my husband went down to the hotel’s pool for a dip. The leisure club includes a heated pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a sauna, steam room and a gym. After a perfect breakfast, we packed up to continue our journey. I promised myself this gem of a hotel wouldn’t be a stop-off point from now on, more of a destination. It has everything we need for a break away, and we would be back soon. Sometimes the best places are the ones you find by chance, and this is one of those. It’s super-relaxingDeep relaxation is one of the most significant and universal benefits of sound therapy. “The sounds permeate our system returning it back to harmony…So if you take nothing else away from a sound healing session, relaxation on its own is worth it. With our busy schedules and so much going on in the world, we can all use some chill vibes. It helps clears energetic blockagesSome people experience deep healing during sound therapy as the sound vibrations open, clear, and balance their chakras and release stuck energy.
