From early learning and education, to staying socially connected, caring for our hearing and eyesight, and understanding how everyday habits and environments aect wellbeing, The Social Collective is about awareness, support and shared experience, not lectures or medical advice.Across 2026, we’ll explore themes such as social isolation, air quality, hearing and vision, mental wellbeing, movement and activity, and managing common health concerns. While these subjects may appear wide-ranging, they are connected by a simple idea: small, everyday factors can have a lasting impact on how we feel, stay engaged and enjoy life over time.At its heart, The Social Collective is about community, and that’s where Villages Mag wants to play its part. In a world often dominated by the pace and noise of social media, this series oers a calmer, more thoughtful space to share information, reect and connect. By reaching people through print and trusted local channels, we hope to include those who may feel overlooked or disconnected from online platforms, ensuring these conversations are accessible to everyone. We also want this feature to be shaped by the communities it serves. If you have experience, insight or expertise relating to any of the topics we explore, we’d love to hear from you for a future edition. And if you’re interested in sponsoring The Social Collective and supporting the continuation of meaningful, community-led content, please get in touch, we’d be happy to discuss opportunities.Together, let’s keep the conversation open, inclusive and rooted in the places we call home.Katy x4 Church Walk, Holmes Chapel, CW4 7AZThink breakfast, brunches &lunches by day. 8We were invited down to the brand new Havoc VR in Addlington, which opened in September 2025, and it instantly impressed us with how its a great go-to indoor activity for older kids, teens & adultsOur experience kicked o in their impressive free-roam VR arena, where up to 12 players can run around completely wire-free. The freedom to move, dodge, and play makes everything feel far more immersive than your usual at-home VR headset. In our 40-minute session, we jumped through a whole mix of games, each one fun, challenging, and surprisingly energetic. We battled zombies, painted oors, mined for diamonds, swiped gold coins, and even fed dinosaurs pizza. Despite wearing headsets, it felt like a genuinely shared experience, we were shouting, laughing, teaming up, and occasionally taunting each otherIt was honestly so nice to do an activity that both of my girls enjoyed. With a teenager and an 11-year-old, they don’t always like the same things, but they loved playing, whether it was competing against each other or teaming up to take on their mother in an all-out battle of painting the oor or playfully “shooting” each otherFair warning: by the end I was totally knackered… and the headset denitely left me with some spectacular hat hairInteractive Sports Gaming WallThis part was just as energetic, but in a completely dierent way. The sports wall oers a huge variety of ball-based and skill games, football, tic-tac-toe, Space Invaders, trivia, Viking Rush, air hockey, ball breaker, and honestly so many moreYou can play solo or in groups of two or four, so we all took turns swapping in and out. The trivia round got very competitive, and I Days Out & Meals Out reviewsJenny,Days Out and Meals Out Reviewsbecame obsessed with the matching pairs game. Watching the girls tackle challenge after challenge together was brilliant.Alongside the fun games, there’s also a training section with more sports-focused options like tennis and penalty shootouts. They even gave us tennis rackets, which made it feel even more real and added to the fun.You can book dierent lengths of time on the gaming wall, but with the amount of variety, you’d never run out of games even if you spent a full two hours in there!Food & Drink The café oers an impressively wide selection of food and drinks, including pizza, wings, paninis, nuggets, chips, milkshakes, slushies, hot drinks, and ice cream. There are plenty of tables and chairs for parents to relax at while the kids play, though it’s often just as fun to watch them explore their imaginative VR worlds in the headsets.Perfect for Birthdays, Teens & Team Nights OutHavoc VR is an ideal spot for a birthday party, especially for older kids who want something a bit more exciting than another trampoline park. It would also be a fantastic alternative night out for colleagues or friends who fancy something fun that’s not a pub.Overall, Havoc VR is energetic, hilarious, and full of variety. A brilliant day out that gets the whole family involved and o their phones. We’ll denitely be back!Top Info:• Open Wed - Fri 12pm - 9pm Sat - Sun 11am - 9pm• VR Arena - 40min sessions in VR• Up to 12 players at once• Interactive Sports Gaming Wall• Arcades & Party Area • www.havocvr.co.ukYou can nd more reviews at daysoutandmealsout.com, or Facebook & Instagram, search ‘Days Out and Meals Out’

14More Than a PintLast month, I closed my musings by talking about pubs as community spaces, places that, even during “Dry January”, still put the lights on, turn the heating up and open their doors for anyone and everyone. Somewhere to stop by for a chat, or a moment of quiet contemplation, in a safe and non-judgemental environment. This feels like a quintessentially British and Irish part of life, rooted in our shared history and everyday culture. As part of a team of incredible people working in hospitality, I’m both deeply proud and genuinely humbled by what we’re allowed to be part of within our community.Every pub has its little groups of regulars. There are the tables of wonderful grannies who never stop chatting and laughing over a coee on a Friday morning. The grafters who need an hour to decompress after a long day on the tools. Individuals who might not see another person all day if they didn’t come out for a slow pint or two. The sons and daughters brought in for their rst (ocial!) drink, or their rst shift.Pubs, cafés and restaurants are often the rst workplace for many teenagers. We watch you grow, gain condence and become your own person, with just as much aection I spoke to Rich from The Bottle Bank recently, as I often do. We’re both business owners rooted in our community, and community sits at the heart of everything we do. Over time, like many independent business owners, we’ve become a quiet support for one another, sharing the realities that sit behind the doors we open every day.I would love to say running a business is easy, but it isn’t. It carries pressures, responsibilities and worries that aren’t always visible. In Villages Mag, I’ve always wanted positivity to lead, to celebrate what’s good, what’s thriving, and what brings people together. But sometimes, being positive also means being honest. This edition includes a special feature on social isolation, and in that context I asked Rich if he would be willing to write openly and from the heart. Venues like The Bottle Bank play a vital but often unseen role in village life. They are places where people are welcomed, noticed and included, where routine oers reassurance and connection happens naturally.Rich’s piece gently lifts the curtain on hospitality, not to criticise or alarm, but to help us better understand the human eort involved in keeping these spaces open. It’s a reection on care, connection and the weight quietly carried by those who help hold communities together. More Than a Pint: The Spaces That Hold Us TogetherBy Rich, The Bottle BankIntroduced by Katy, Editoras your parents, cheeky banter about not seeing me behind the bar lately notwithstanding.Almost every hospitality venue forms these kinds of relationships. Speaking for myself, we notice and miss you when you don’t come in. We laugh at your jokes, share in your losses, and listen to your stories even when there are a hundred other things demanding our attention. You matter to us, truly. That’s why it’s been so dicult to watch hospitality take one hit after another over the past six years, despite contributing so much to society beyond its economic value. Hospitality has been in the news a lot recently, particularly around business rates and promises of lower costs. For many small, independent venues, those promises haven’t translated into real relief. My own rateable value has increased by 10%, and the amount I’ll pay in rates has risen by nearly 40%, even after discounts. At the same time, the cost of virtually every aspect of running a pub, café or restaurant has risen, alongside growing pressures on customers’ wages. We know that means there’s less available for anything beyond necessities, and we wish deeply that we didn’t have to add to that list. The strain this places on owners and landlords is signicant. A 2024 survey by mental health advocates and suicide prevention charity R;pple found that nearly 60% of respondents working in hospitality reported experiencing mental health challenges at work. More concerning still, around half said they had experienced thoughts of self-harm or suicide. These gures are hard to read, but they reect the reality of high-pressure environments combined with nancial uncertainty.Hospitality is too often seen as an easy source of revenue, heavily taxed, tightly regulated, and expected to absorb rising costs without complaint. The reality behind the scenes is far removed from that perception. There are wider conversations that still need to happen, around VAT, business rates and regulation. Other countries recognise the social value of hospitality and support it accordingly. In the UK, small independent venues often lack strong representation, with attention frequently focused on large chains rather than community businesses. But there are things you can do. Choose where you spend your money. Support the places that matter to you. Even one coee or soft drink a week makes a dierence. Leave a review. Tell us what we’re doing well, and what we could do better. Please don’t sit in silence, because one day there may be no doors left to open when you need them most.I would love our politicians to spend a day behind the bar. To pull pints, clear tables, solve problems before they escalate, and witness the relationships that form naturally in these spaces. Hospitality workers are problem-solvers, listeners, carers, businesspeople and community builders all at once. It’s hard work, and we love it.Rich, Coral, and The Bottle Bank team. Some of the themes touched on are sensitive and may resonate deeply for some readers. Recognizing this critical need, a growing number of volunteer-based services are stepping in to ensure that no one misses a vital medical appointment due to lack of a lift. One such initiative, Holmes Chapel & District Communicare, is making a meaningful dierence by connecting patients in need with compassionate volunteers.A Lifeline for Those in NeedFor the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and low-income patients, getting to a doctor’s surgery or a clinic isn’t always as easy. Public transport may be limited, unreliable, or inaccessible. Family members may not be available to help. In rural areas, the challenge is even greater. That’s where Communicare steps in.The service coordinates a network of volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to take patients to and from Holmes Chapel CommuniCAReEmai: hccommunicare@outlook.com or call 07856 469508medical appointments. The volunteers, most of whom are retired or part-time workers, donate their time out of a shared commitment to community care. How It WorksPatients or carers call our dedicated phone line, ideally several days in advance. A volunteer coordinator matches each request with an available driver based on location, timing, and the level of assistance the passenger may require. On the day of the appointment, the volunteer picks up the patient at their home, ensures they get safely to their destination, and waits, or returns later, for the trip home. For many passengers, the service goes far beyond logistics. It oers companionship, emotional support, and peace of mind. The Volunteers Behind the WheelThe heart of the service lies in its volunteers. Each driver undergoes background checks, and gains an understanding of patients’ needs and condentiality.“I started volunteering after retirement just to give something back to the community” says a retired school teacher and volunteer driver. “But I never expected how rewarding it would be to build real connections with the people I drive.”Many volunteers report that the experience is just as meaningful for them as it is for the passengers. The shared stories, the smiles, and the simple act of being there for someone in need build a powerful sense of community.Expanding ImpactGroups like Communicare are now being replicated in other towns and counties, with passenger donations helping cover the costs of insurance, mileage reimbursement, and administrative expenses. As the population ages and demand for accessible healthcare grows, the importance of such volunteer services will only increase.Interested in Helping? To nd out more, visit our website: www holmeschapelcommunicare.org.uk Email Communicare at: hccommunicare@outlook.com Call 07856 469508With just a little time and a willingness to drive, volunteers can transform lives, sometimes, the road to better health begins with a neighbour.

The agreed precept increase will be 55p per month for a band D property, taking the cost to £101.16 for the year. This will allow the Council to continue to meet its responsibilities. The budget also includes a contribution to the Parish Council’s Capital Improvements Fund. This fund is used to support larger, long term projects that enhance the village, and improve our community facilities. Last year it was used to fund the extension of the Christmas lights, renovations to the Community Centre at roofs, restoration of the Croco path and more. Next year, it is hoped we can make play area and pathway improvements as well as other improvements to the village. The full budget can be viewed on the Parish Council website:www.holmeschapelparishcouncil.gov.uk/nanceHolmes Chapel Parish Council newsNew Youth Club Coming Soon!We are delighted to be launching a new Youth Club in partnership with Everybody Health and Leisure. 32After a successful and well-supported year, Goostrey Parish Archive is looking to expand its activities in 2026 and encourage more recruits to join the archive team. The archive has been pleased with the numbers attending its three major exhibitions - the Goosfest displays at the village pubs, the Crown Inn and the Space Invader, the 60th anniversary of the rst production of Alan Garner’s Holly from the Bongs, and the traction engine photographic history of the village Steam Fayre - exceeded all expectations. The archive’s contribution to the Goostrey Rose Day Festival of a Victorian-style hoopla stall was well received, and also provided the opportunity as a sales point for its rst publication, Goostrey: A Tale of Two Townships, which so far has produced £1,300 for funds to continue and develop its work for the community. The team has identied a number of specic tasks in which residents can get involved and use their expertise for the benet of the archive, and much of the work can be done at home at times to suit the individual if they are unable to attend the weekly Tuesday afternoon sessions in the Village Hall. Among roles already identied where help would be welcome include:• Cataloguing articles and photographs. Currently, the archive is stored in “archive-quality” individual boxes.• Scrapbooks. Cut out relevant media information from collected newspapers and glue into the scrapbook.• Local photography. Take images of Goostrey Parish Archive... Get Involvedby Goostrey Parish Archivewww.goostreyparisharchive.co.ukthe events around the village and record changes in the village structure, including new houses and refurbished village stock.• Fundraising. Our exhibitions and website require nancial resources, which are limited at present. If we are to continue our work we need funds.• Voice recordings. Identify local people who have stories about the village to tell and arrange recording sessions.• Website management. Keep the Goostrey Parish Archive website updated• Archive 2027 calendar. Help in the choice of images from the village’s past.If anyone has time to spare and skills that can be utilised, please contact Stewart Smallwood on 07881 372252 or email goostrey@btinternet.com, or Roger Burgess on 01477 535443. Alternatively, you can meet the archive in the Village Hall on Tuesday afternoons between 2 pm and 4 pm.PICTURES from the archive (Smallwood Collection) provide an opportunity for someone with a sharp eye and a good memory to identify and name the residents here!

44When you split up, it’s hard to obtain the detailed information you need on whether you are likely to receive or pay spousal maintenance and who decides.Separating your nancial aairs and dividing your savings, pensions, and the equity in the family home is especially challenging when you are grappling with spousal income disparities and promotion prospects, and trying to understand child support and spousal maintenance.Calculating child support and spousal maintenance Confusingly, child support and spousal maintenance are determined by two dierent organisations, each using dierent calculation methods. Child support is determined by the Child Maintenance Service using a mathematical formula. The family court determines spousal maintenance when asked to make a nancial order. When deciding whether to make a spousal maintenance order, the court considers both spouses’ income and reasonable outgoings to determine whether spousal maintenance should be paid and, if so, the amount.Reaching an agreement on the nancial settlement and spousal maintenance Let’s talk legal... Who decides spousal maintenance? ByEvolve Family LawFamily lawyers recommend that separating couples reach a nancial agreement covering the family home, savings, pension, and ongoing nancial support, thereby avoiding the need for a Child Maintenance Service assessment or a nancial remedy application. Reaching a compromise can save you both time and money – provided that your ex-partner recognises that compromise involves them as well as you. There are several ways a family law solicitor can help you work out whether you will get or pay spousal maintenance and the nancial settlement. These include:1. Amicable divorce 2. Family mediation 3. Solicitor negotiation4. Round table meeting5. Agreement through collaborative lawFinancial court orders and spousal maintenance If you reach an agreement, it’s essential to ask the court to record your agreement in a nancial consent order. It’s particularly important to do so if spousal maintenance is an option because:1. Spousal maintenance can be time-limited or end on a specic event. The date and end event must be clear and enforceable.2. Spousal maintenance can go up or down. You may want to negotiate RPI payment rises as part of your court order to avoid variation applications.3. If you both earn similar salaries, you may want a clean break order so neither of you can claim further capital or spousal maintenance in future. At Evolve Family Law, we recognise just how hard it can be when you are coming to terms with the end of your marriage and the implications for yourself and your children. We aim to provide the information and specialist family law legal advice you need. With our support and guidance, you can obtain a divorce, reach an agreement on parenting arrangements, make a new Will, and resolve issues such as who will remain in the family home, whether spousal maintenance will be paid, and for how long.

50Isolation doesn’t always mean being physically alone. It can follow bereavement, retirement, illness, reduced mobility or becoming a carer. It can aect people who are new to Holmes Chapel just as much as those who have lived here for decades. Over time, social circles can shrink, condence can fade, and once-familiar places can start to feel harder to access. What helps counter this isn’t grand solutions, but consistency and inclusion. Local groups, community spaces, volunteering opportunities and informal social settings across Holmes Chapel all oer ways for people to reconnect at their own pace. Often, it’s not about doing more, it’s about feeling noticed, included and valued. For those looking to get involved with local groups or activities, more information can be found via u3a or the Holmes Chapel Partnership website. We appreciate there are many other connective groups within the village, and we apologise if we haven’t mentioned yours. Please let us know if you’d like your group or activity to be included in a future edition.Strong communities don’t eliminate isolation entirely, but they make it easier to spot and easier to address. And they work best when supported by good health, clear communication and compassionate care. When Hearing Loss Leads to WithdrawalBy The Studio GoostreyOne of the most overlooked contributors to social isolation is hearing loss. Because changes often happen gradually, they are easy to dismiss or quietly adapt to without realising the wider impact. Yet when conversations become harder to follow, particularly in busy or social settings, people can begin to withdraw. This can be especially noticeable during more sociable times of the year. Family gatherings that feel dicult to engage in, meals where conversation becomes exhausting, or social plans quietly declined can all contribute to a growing sense of missing out. For many people, it isn’t a lack of invitation that causes them to step back, but the challenge of hearing clearly and condently.Hearing loss reshapes the way people move through the world in subtle but signicant ways. Conversation is central to human connection, and when hearing becomes dicult, that connection can begin to strain. Missing parts of conversations, struggling to keep up in group settings, or feeling uncomfortable asking others to repeat themselves can lead people to speak less or avoid social situations Connection is one of the simplest human needs, and yet one of the easiest to lose. It’s found in everyday conversations, shared routines and the reassurance of knowing someone is there. But for many people, particularly as life circumstances change, staying connected can quietly become more dicult. Social isolation rarely arrives suddenly; it tends to build over time, shaped by health, mobility, communication challenges and changing social networks. In this edition of The Social Collective, we explore social isolation through three closely connected perspectives: the role of community in Holmes Chapel, the impact of hearing loss, and the importance of carers supporting older people in their own homes. Individually, each plays a part in wellbeing. Together, they highlight how connection can be protected, and how easily it can be lost if small barriers are left unaddressed.Community: Connection at the Heart of Holmes ChapelIn a village like Holmes Chapel, community is often felt in the smallest moments, a familiar face in the precinct, a friendly greeting at a local pub or café, or a shared routine that brings people together week after week. These everyday interactions form the backbone of village life, yet even in close-knit communities, social isolation can still take hold. The Social CollectiveExploring the relationships that shape local living.altogether. Over time, condence can fade and relationships may feel harder to maintain. In environments with background noise, pubs, cafés, community events or family gatherings, these challenges are often amplied. Many people describe hearing loss not as silence, but as sound without clarity. The eort required to follow conversations can be mentally draining, and what should feel enjoyable can instead feel tiring. Gradually, withdrawal can become a way of coping.Hearing loss doesn’t just aect the ears, it aects participation. When communication becomes eortful, social interaction can lose its ease, and isolation can take hold without being immediately recognised. Some causes of hearing diculty are simple and easily addressed. Ear wax build-up, for example, is completely natural but can lead to mued hearing and discomfort. Regular hearing checks can also help people understand whether changes in hearing may be contributing to withdrawal, oering clarity and reassurance. For those who recognise a growing sense of missing out or social fatigue, taking a rst step can feel daunting. These interactions help people feel seen and supported, reducing loneliness and maintaining emotional wellbeing.Carers also help older people remain connected to village life. They may encourage hobbies, support attendance at appointments or local activities, or help someone stay in touch with friends and family. Even small actions, assisting with a phone call, a short walk or maintaining a familiar routine, can help prevent isolation from becoming ingrained. With 14 years of experience working within our communities, Ablewell Care can also provide advice and guidance for families exploring options for care at home, helping people remain independent while staying connected.Supporting older people at home isn’t just about care, it’s about preserving dignity, independence and connection. It allows people to remain part of Holmes Chapel’s community, surrounded by the places and routines that give their lives meaning.Connection Is Everyone’s ResponsibilityWhat links community, hearing health and home care is the understanding that social isolation is rarely caused by one factor alone. It is shaped by practical barriers, health changes and the availability of support. Addressing it eectively requires awareness, compassion and collaboration.Small actions can make a signicant dierence, being patient in conversation, creating inclusive spaces, encouraging people to seek support, or simply checking in on neighbours. These everyday gestures help build a village where connection is easier to maintain.Social isolation is not always visible, but its impact is real. Last month, I suggested you might like to consider joining the Partnership. But if that felt like too much of a commitment, I’d like to oer a far more exible alternative: getting involved for a day with the Partnership. When I say “join”, I’m not talking about signing up to something that demands weekly or monthly attendance. What I’m suggesting is something much simpler, and just as rewarding. It’s about contributing in a way that suits you; by getting involved in activities we run throughout the year. Some take just a few hours in total, others a little more time, but all make a real dierence to our village. Most people know us for organising the Christmas Market & Fair in December, but that’s just one part of what we do. Throughout the year, we support a wide range of events and initiatives that help keep Holmes Chapel a safer, greener, and more welcoming place. To give you a avour of how you could play a part, here are just some of the activities we have planned this year. One important activity we run all year is Community Speed Watch on Maccleseld Road. This may not immediately sound appealing, but its impact is signicant. The aim is not to catch people speeding, it’s to slow trac down and make drivers think twice in a location where pedestrian safety really matters. This stretch of road, close to the entrance to the Victoria Mills Estate, is particularly challenging. Many parents cross here daily to reach Hermitage Primary School, and it’s a dicult spot for both pedestrians and drivers. We have been campaigning for some time for a Pedestrian Crossing, and until one Holmes Chapel Partnership... by Peter Whiers, ChairmanFind out more: hcpartnership.org.ukis installed, this activity plays a vital role.Speed Watch alone won’t secure a crossing, which is why we are working closely with the school, Cheshire East Council, Holmes Chapel Parish Council, and others to build a strong, united case, before there are any serious injuries, or worse. If you have experience of projects that require patience, determination, and diplomacy, and you can spare a little time, your involvement could genuinely help bring about lasting change.A new event which we launched last year is the Holmes Chapel Fun Run, open to ages 4-16. The circular route is approximately 2km around the Dane Meadow and, because of the age range of our runners, we need around 20 stewards to keep everyone safe and on course. This year the run will take place on Sunday 10th May 2026.Another initiative we launched in 2024 was Harry’s Home Village Guided Tours, and the response was extraordinary. News of the tours went global, reaching an estimated audience of 1.9 billion people. As a result, the Partnership delivered more than 45 guided tours during the summer, welcoming visitors from around the world and showcasing Holmes Chapel at its very best.We we’re keen to build on that success and in 2025 the Harry’s Home Village Self –Guided Tour was launched; this year it will be relaunched as a virtual tour. So, if you think you could help with this, we will soon be starting conversations with all those involved. With your help, we can rene and improve the experience even further, ensuring that visits to Holmes Chapel are memorable for all the right reasons.Over the summer, we will also be organising the stalls at the Holmes Chapel Village Fair, held at the Victoria Club in July. This is a fantastic community event, and we will be looking for volunteers to help on the day. Even a short stint makes a big dierence and helps ensure the event runs smoothly. And nally, if you enjoy being outdoors and doing something practical, our Friends of Dane Meadow subgroup meets once a month at 10am, usually on the second Tuesday, for around an hour. The work is simple but valuable: clearing and raking paths, caring for new trees, and managing vegetation. No experience is needed, just come suitably dressed (nettles, thistles, and bare legs don’t mix!) and bring a pair of gardening gloves. If any of the above sounds even remotely interesting, I’d really encourage you to take a look. Whether you can oer a few hours once a year or something a little more regular, your involvement matters. For full details of these opportunities, and a few others not mentioned here, please visit: www.hcpartnership.org.uk/volunteer and register your interest. You might be surprised at how rewarding it feels to play a small part in something that benets the whole village.

66While many of us are busy looking for “The One” this February, it’s the perfect time to remember that we only actually have one planet, and she’s been dropping some pretty heavy hints lately that she’d like a bit more TLC.They say love is in the air this month, but unfortunately, quite a lot of single-use plastic is in the air (and the water) too. Our oceans act as the Earth’s blue heart; they regulate our weather and provide the oxygen for every second breath we take. This Valentine’s Day, we can show some love to our partners and our planet simultaneously. Being a “conscious consumer” doesn’t mean skipping the romance, it just means choosing gifts that the Earth won’t be “ghosting” in a landll for the next 500 years. Here are 10 simple ways to show the planet some love this month:1. Choose Seasonal Blooms: Many imported roses are own thousands of miles in refrigerated planes. Opt for locally grown British owers or a beautiful potted plant that will continue to grow alongside your relationship.A Love Letter to Our Blue PlanetByJo, Fillarup.co.uk2. Smarter Sweets: Chocolate is a Valentine’s staple, but the packaging often isn’t. Look for treats wrapped in compostable foil and cardboard rather than plastic trays.3. The Gift of Experience: Memories don’t create waste. A coastal walk, a cooking class, or tickets to a local show often mean more than a physical trinket.4. Eco-Greetings: Millions of Valentine’s cards end up in the bin by February 15th. Look for cards made from recycled paper or “seed paper” that your recipient can actually plant in the garden.5. Ditch the Glitter: It might look romantic, but traditional glitter is made of tiny microplastics that inevitably nd their way into our rivers and oceans. If it’s not biodegradable, let it go!6. Wrap with Care: Skip the shiny, plastic-coated wrapping paper (which can’t be recycled). Use the “Furoshiki” method, wrapping gifts in a beautiful fabric scarf, or stick to classic brown paper and twine.7. Mindful Dining: If you’re cooking a romantic meal at home, try to source local, plastic-free ingredients. Your local butcher or farm shop is a great place to start.8. Natural Materials: If you are buying a physical gift, look for items made from wood, glass or organic cotton rather than synthetic plastics.9. Set the Mood Sustainably: Swap paran wax candles for soy or beeswax versions. They burn cleaner, which is better for your indoor air quality and the environment.10. Spread the Love: Share your eco-tips! Encouraging just one other person to make a sustainable choice this February creates a ripple eect that reaches much further than you think. This February, let’s make sure the only thing we leave behind is a smaller carbon footprint. After all, protecting the home we all share is the ultimate act of love.
