8Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you are feeling recharged for the adventures ahead in 2025. As we kick o the new year, I wanted to focus on why walking can signicantly enhance our health:Walking signicantly reduces the risk of chronic diseases through multiple mechanisms that benet nearly every cell in the body. There are numerous studies and thoughts around the number of steps per day, and there are suggests that between 6,000 and 8,000 steps a day at a “brisk” pace is the threshold at which a person begins to lower their risk The benets of walking...By Hilary Mines, Founder of Trundle, The Walking for Charity App of chronic conditions substantially. They include:Cardiovascular health: Regular walking strengthens the heart and blood vessels. improving circulation.Metabolic impact: Walking can help reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.Musculoskeletal benets: It strengthens bones and muscles, decreasing the risk of osteoporosis and improving joint health. Inammation reduction: Walking lowers chronic inammation.Immune function: People who walk regularly have fewer sick days.Cancer prevention: Walking is associated with a lower risk of certain cancers, including breast cancer.Mental health: It can reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression. It releases endorphins that improve mood.So this is a compelling reason to incorporate more steps into our daily routine! So I am hoping that you might see having a walk in a new light now. Afterall, have you ever heard anyone say after a walk “I really don’t feel better for that”? I doubt it.

12Goostrey Parish Archive ended on a roll after a record year in which it achieved a number of its ambitious projects. There were more visitors on Tuesdays when the archive is open for two hours at the village hall and several familes with links to Goostrey, among them one from the United States, have been helped to trace their ancestors. In the community, the archive has played a major part with its small band of volunteers mounting a number of exhibitions, including the highlight of the year, the Normandy D-Day anniversary event where its display of wartime links proved highly successful and drew on the memories of older residents. One highlight in the summer was Rose Day when departing from its usual exhibition, returned the Hoopla stall to the festival eld much to the delight of adults as well as youngsters who enthusiastically joined in the Victorian-style funfair game.Fortunately it had been carefully stored away by the good oces of the Brown family farm at Twemlow and given help by the Men in Sheds based at Orchards Farm in repairs to the wooden structure Goostrey Parish Archiveby Roger Burgess, ChairGoostrey Parish Archiveand repainted by archive members in brighter colours proved a splendid addition to the day and will reappear this year.Goosfest at the Crown provided another milestone when an exhibition of cycling along with input from a group of local long distance cyclists, attracted a large number of members of cycling clubs who regularaly visit the village as well as supporters of the archive. The archive’s presence online through a Facebook group with its name and the launch of a website (goostreyparisharchive.co.uk) were itsbiggest achivements of the year and have repidly gained followers not only in Goostrey but worldwide. In the New Year, it is anticipated it will have completed work pn the publication of a book covering the history of Goostrey from ancient times to the present. It is with great sadness we record the death of Michael Burt who was an enthusiastic member of our team. He made a generous donation to the archive which has enabled the setting up of our website Goostrey Parish Archive is hoping that more residents will take an active interest in its work and join the volunteers on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm.The archive would like to thank its many supporters and contributors to the archive and Facebook group and website and hope that the New Year will bring prosperity and peace.Top: A rare nd for a display of pictures at the archive was this image of Holmes Chapel Girl Guides including members from Goostrey.Bottom Left: The late Margaret Kettle was an enthusiastic supporter of the archive. Bottom Right: The archive’s exhibition on Rose Day always attract a lot of interest from visitors. Supplied by: John Williams/Goostrey Parish Archive

22In answer to the question ‘Can you get a quick divorce?’ you can get a no-fault divorce but it will take around six months from start to nish. Many people equated the introduction of no-fault divorce with quickie divorces. However, court rules mean you can’t get a divorce in under six months or 26 weeks. You also can’t start divorce proceedings until you have been married for at least 12 months. At Evolve Family Law we understand the frustrations of a 26-week wait for your nal order of divorce and your exasperation at the requirement for every divorcing couple to wait 20 weeks in a reection period before being able to proceed with their divorce application. We nd it helps to understand why you want a quick divorce. Often the answer lies in a spouse assuming they can’t sell or transfer the family home until the divorce proceedings are nalised. That isn’t the case.Although our divorce solicitors can’t magic up a quickie divorce, we can help you reach a quick nancial settlement so you can be nancially separate Let’s talk legal... Can you get a quick divorce?ByEvolve Family Lawfrom your spouse. This can be achieved before the divorce proceedings are even started by reaching a nancial agreement with the help of our negotiations. Once the agreement is nalised you sign a separation agreement to conrm the terms. This agreement can be converted into a nancial court order when you secure your conditional divorce order mid-way through the divorce process. The order can be enforced once you have your nal divorce order and are ocially divorced. In most families, nancial negotiations start as soon as you decide to separate. If you can’t negotiate the terms of a separation agreement then you’ll hopefully be able to reach an agreement that can be written up as an agreed nancial consent order. The order can then be emailed to a family judge for approval as soon as you have your conditional divorce order.Quick nancial settlements and court orders can be important if you need your ex-partner to leave the house and you don’t have the grounds to apply for an injunction order or if your ex wants an agreement and court order about the division of the equity in the family home before they’ll agree to the jointly owned property going on the market. In some situations, you and your ex will agree on how to split the equity in the family home but want a quick divorce to get your nancial court order as a third party won’t act without the nancial order. For example, some mortgage oers are contingent on a nancial court order conrming the family home equity split or the amount of spousal maintenance. Our divorce solicitors can have the order ready for approval by the court as soon as your conditional divorce order is secured. So, although the no-fault divorce process doesn’t allow you to get a divorce in under six months, you can get your divorce nal order and your nancial court order within around six months with the help of specialist divorce solicitors who understand the divorce rules and your need for speed.

26colleges that combine traditional academic learning with hands-on, career-focused training. As Will Chitty, the passionate head of Crewe UTC, explained to me, these colleges are built to bridge the gap between education and industry. At Crewe UTC, students can study GCSEs, BTECs, A-Levels, and T Levels while specialising in engineering and design. The facilities, completed just eight years ago, boast state-of-the-art equipment and a modern feel, giving students a professional environment in which to develop their skills. There are currently 44 UTCs across the country, strategically placed in areas where there is a workforce shortage in specic industries. Around 65% focus on engineering, while others specialise in elds such as healthcare and media. For Will Chitty, Crewe is the perfect location for an engineering college. With its rich industrial heritage and the presence of numerous large employers in the area, the UTC has prime opportunities to prepare students for meaningful careers.Creating Aspirations, Not Just Opportunities - What sets Crewe UTC apart is its emphasis on aspiration. Beyond just preparing students for jobs, the college aims to inspire them to reach for ambitious career goals. Every Thursday morning, students attend an assembly where a guest employer delivers a presentation, sharing insights into their industry and highlighting potential career paths. This initiative was one of Will Chitty’s priorities when he joined the college four years ago. Recognising the need for stronger ties with local businesses, he introduced a dedicated coordinator to foster these partnerships. Mr. Fergusson, a seasoned educator with real-world industry experience, was brought on board to take the lead. His role involves building relationships with employers, aligning their expertise with the college’s curriculum, and ensuring work placements and presentations are meaningful for students.Building Vital Connections - Will Chitty cannot emphasise enough the importance of connecting with employers, building relationships, and maintaining them. He proudly If, like me, you have a child in Year 11 preparing for their GCSEs, your household is probably a whirlwind of conversations about what comes next.It was during a casual chat with other local parents that I rst heard about Crewe UTC. A mum and her son spoke with such enthusiasm about their experience that I couldn’t resist nding out more. What I discovered was a modern, forward-thinking educational option designed to prepare students for the careers of tomorrow.Crewe UTC, ocially known as the Crewe Engineering and Design University Technical College, is a specialised college for students aged 13 to 19. Its focus is on equipping young people with the skills and qualications they need to thrive in the workforce, all while fostering a passion for engineering and design. What Makes Crewe UTC Special? - University Technical Colleges (UTCs) like Crewe UTC are government-funded Katy meets... Crewe UTCby Katy O’Reganshared that all 40 assemblies for the next academic year are already booked with employer presentations, but Crewe UTC is always eager to build new partnerships. The college’s links with businesses extend far beyond Thursday morning assemblies. Employers contribute through work placements and set real-life projects for the students. These projects are an integral part of the curriculum, with students completing a minimum of six each year.Employers design the tasks, setting expectations and parameters, while students work in teams to develop solutions. Once the projects are complete, the employers return to hear the students present their work. This hands-on approach allows students to gain invaluable experience, preparing them for the realities of the working world while also giving businesses a chance to shape the next generation of talent.Industry Placements: Adding Real Value - Another key role for employers is providing industry placements. Will Chitty avoids the term “work experience” because he believes it undervalues the importance of these opportunities. At Crewe UTC, parents aren’t tasked with nding placements for their children; instead, the college takes charge to ensure these opportunities add real value to the curriculum. For one of their qualications, the T Levels, Crewe UTC has already secured industry placements for students enrolling in September 2025. This proactive approach reects the college’s commitment to preparing students for their future careers.Growing a Future in Engineering - Crewe UTC’s reputation is growing year by year, driven largely by word of mouth from satised students and parents. Students can join in Year 10 to complete their GCSEs, oering an excellent opportunity for those passionate about engineering to focus on their chosen career path from an early age. Alternatively, students can enrol in Year 12 to pursue T Levels and BTEC qualications. Will Chitty understands the value of honing in on engineering as a sector from a young age. He highlights that 5% of the UK workforce is employed in engineering, yet there’s a signicant shortage of skilled and experienced professionals. Engineering not only supports most sectors but is also the driving force behind technological advancement. As he says, “Engineering doesn’t just adapt to technology—it moves it forward!”Looking Ahead - As someone unfamiliar with T Levels before exploring Crewe UTC, I’ve been inspired to delve deeper into this qualication and how it complements the traditional A Levels and BTECs. In the next edition, I’ll explore these in greater detail, highlighting what they mean for students’ futures. For now, if you’re considering Crewe UTC for your child, the next open evening is planned for 30th January. More information, including how to book and apply, is available on their website utccrewe.co.uk. Alternatively, prospective students and their parents are welcome to arrange a tour of the facilities by emailing enquiries@creweutc.org.uk. Prospective businesses who would like to collaborate with the UTC can also contact them via the same email address.Crewe UTC isn’t just a school; it’s a springboard for young people passionate about engineering, equipping them with the qualications, experience, and connections to thrive in an ever-evolving world. For those looking to step condently into the future, Crewe UTC is a place where aspirations take ight.

3838I recently had a lovely couple in my clinic, John and Barb. Well, lovely until John’s ears came under scrutiny. Barb had grown increasingly fed up over the past six months—John had been turning the telly up so loud the neighbours probably thought they were hosting a rock concert, ignoring her shouts (allegedly not on purpose), and generally missing out on life’s smaller sounds—like the kettle boiling or the dog snoring. So, o they came to me, their friendly ear wax professional, certain that ear wax was the root of the problem.John took his seat, looking equal parts curious and nervous. I grabbed my trusty otoscope (think of it as a torch for ears) and peered into his left ear. Sure enough, there it was—good old-fashioned “vintage wax.” Dark, dense and determined to stay put, like a squatter refusing eviction.I moved to his right ear, expecting more of the same. Oh, how wrong I was. This wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill waxy buildup—this ear had gone rogue. John’s ear canal was completely full, but not with wax. No, this was something Cotton Buds: A Cautionary TalebyCheshire Earsfar worse: cotton wool. Layers of it, fused together with months—possibly years—of wax, forming a compacted, impenetrable fortress. If I’d chiselled away at it for long enough, I’m sure I could’ve found treasure.I turned to John, took a breath, and asked the obvious questions. “John… Barb… when, how, and why?”Barb was horried. John, meanwhile, turned a deep shade of beetroot and sheepishly admitted to his crime—secret cotton bud usage. Now, I know what you’re thinking: cotton buds are everywhere. They look harmless. They feel like the perfect little tool for cleaning your ears. But this, my friends, is where trouble begins.Let me tell you straight: cotton buds don’t clean your ears—they just push the wax deeper, compacting it like concrete. Worse still, they can damage your ear canal or even the eardrum.Thankfully, John had come to the right place. Using microsuction, a safe and gentle procedure, I carefully removed the compacted mix of wax and cotton wool from his ear. Microsuction is considered the gold standard for ear wax removal—just a controlled vacuum to safely clear the ear canal without discomfort.By the end of the session, John could hear clearly again, and the relief on both their faces was palpable. I reassured him that he wasn’t alone in his cotton bud habits but encouraged him—and anyone else reading this—to leave ear wax removal to the professionals. So, if you nd yourself struggling with blocked ears, resist the urge to poke around with cotton buds. Your ears are clever, self-cleaning wonders, but when they need a little extra help, seeing a professional for safe, eective treatment like microsuction is the best decision you can make. John certainly learnt his lesson, and I’m condent Barb will make sure he never forgets it!

44My name is Dave Carter lead walker and Director of Men walking and Talking .First walk started 01/10/2024 SandbachAt 16 years old I joined the army, everything I ever wanted and worked hard to be the best I could. I started o at the army foundation college in Harrogate and quickly became a standout recruit. Unfortunately a snowboarding trip with the army cut short my career and a medical discharge soon followed. But being a soldier taught me so much about resilience, teamwork, brotherhood , empathy, grit, strength and so much more. I’ve worked a few dierent jobs over the years but as family life was coming in I started working at Bentley motors for that job security and career progression. I soon moved up through the ranks with my hard work and determination to learn more. I progressed well at Bentley but It didn’t challenge me and with that I started to get lazy and lose focus on what I really wanted from life. I came for the payslip and that was it. In 2023 I took redundancy from Bentley and now working towards getting my personal training and strength and conditioning Men Walking & TalkingBy Dave CarterWalk, Talk & Listen.coaching completed, nally getting back to what really drives me forward, helping others. I want people to nd their best selves and support them through that. I am married and have 2 amazing IVF babies that are my everything but the nancial pressure of supporting my family is what hit me like a tonne of bricks. As each month past, debt started to creep in and with poor decisions, it just got worse and worse. I reached out and spoke to a group of men and that really lifted the weight o my shoulders and helped me to see a clearer picture. I still have a lot of debt and I’m working through these problems I face, but I’m doing it on my terms. I have wanted to set something up for a long time and coming across the men walking and talking group was perfect. After 8 weeks of pushing for men to be honest with themselves and create that safe space in Sandbach, I was asked to become a director of the National project. To me this is exactly what we need more of in our communities, a simple walk and talk can go a long way to building a stronger social connection and self worth. I’m going to bring these walks to as many communities as possible . To help one man is incredible but this is for every man. We just need to step forward together. Please join in... Walk, talk , listenFollow Dave Carter, scan the QR Code...2 pups and 26 legends joined me on a dark walk down some country lanes tonight. 6 new faces and many old faces in the group. Plenty of room on the streets for all you men out there!! Come join us. Free walk - just turn up and join in Sandbach library meeting point 18:20 every Tuesday Walk for an hour Done

48As we come to the conclusion of another festive season, it’s time for a quick look at what this time of year really means for the hospitality industry. I think it’s when, from our vantage point behind the bar, we notice a lot more conviviality, people are more open to sharing tables and company wherever you go. New friendships are easily made, and rounds are bought between strangers. For us, this year’s been another one where we’ve forged new supplier relationships, brought new products to the bars, launched epic new events, and welcomed many new faces through the doors of both bars. One of the ones we’re most looking forward to working with next year is Abda and her team at Celeste. Since taking over Charlie’s at the start of the year, Abda’s brought another personal slice of culture to Holmes Chapel. So much so that we have another rst… The Bottle Bank’s very rst Cuisine Club, when we’ll have an evening lled with the tastes and aromas from her incredible cooking. This collaborative evening promises to bring the culture and tradition of Sudani cooking to the intimacy of the Bottle Bank at the start of February through a 4-course menu of dishes to be shared by your table. The sharing theme has also been taken more enthusiastically by those independent craft breweries that we know and champion. I can’t remember a year when I’ve seen so many 750ml bottles on my trade mailouts. Yes, the cost of them is somewhat higher than usual, but they’re squarely aimed at the rapidly growing bottle share market. This is when groups get together, each bringing something special, big bottles full of huge avours, deep aromas, 7 big abv’s. Often made in very small batches, From the bar, with Rich...Rich, The Beer Emporium Bottle Bankthey’ve been made to be shared and enjoyed, not guzzled! If you’re going to be hosting this Christmas and New Year, here’s a great and easy festive treat. All you’ll need is a bag of frozen cranberries, some sugar, gin and a bottle of soda water. In a pan, heat up 170g of sugar with 170ml of water. When that’s come to a simmer, add in your 400g (ish!) bag of frozen cranberries. When they’ve cooked down, and gone all mushy, put to one side to cool. When cold, blend until smooth, and add to a big jug with a couple of handfuls of ice already. Depending on how much cranberry puree you have, add between 400ml to 600ml of gin, stir and then add your soda water. Obviously for a longer drink, add more soda, but for a punchier cranberry gin zz, 1l would be perfect. If you wanted to make this a warming drink to see the New Year in looking at the reworks, then swap the soda water for still, warm in a pan with a couple of slices of orange, a stick of cinnamon, and nish with a good glug of amaretto. All that’s left to do now is to get your mates round and enjoy!Until next year, see you at the bar!

It was recently used in the Dane Meadow to cut back overgrowth and create a new path! It has also opened up the orchard area which looks fantastic!Contacting the Parish CouncilOur oce is generally open 9am to 12 noon, Tuesday to Friday mornings.Clerk of the Council, Holmes Chapel Parish Council, 1 Church Walk, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. 60Well, it’s time to think about that diet again, but what are we going to do with all those little treats that are still left over from Christmas. My own plans are to save a treat for when I have done something positive in the new year, like going for a walk and getting some fresh air, even if it is a bit cold and windy, the much-needed exercise gets the blood owing and always makes me feel so much better. If you are new to the village and are looking for safe walks or cycle routes that you can do with friends and family, then take a look at our website page www.hcpartnership.org.uk/walkingandcyclingroutes that features several walks both in and around the village. As we move into 2025, I have reected upon how long I have lived in Holmes Chapel, and why we have made it our Holmes Chapel Partnershipby Peter Whiers, ChairmanFind out more: hcpartnership.org.ukhome for the last 36+ years. In 1988 our family lives changed, with me swapping, a commute by train from Chelmsford to work in the city, to a 15-minute drive to Knutsford through the Cheshire countryside. But perhaps the biggest change for me was to be asked by a new work colleague if I would like to join him at an evening with a few friends at the Holmes Chapel Round Table. Within a few months I went from knowing nobody in this village, to having a group of around 20 new friends who were all members of the Holmes Chapel Round Table. Sadly, our Round Table and Rotary club closed many years ago, but many new clubs have appeared and are always looking for new members. So, if you nd yourself thinking what am I going to do dierently in 2025, think about joining a club and getting to know a few more people locally. If you don’t want the commitment of joining a club, another option is to simply volunteer to help the Partnership. We are a small friendly group that is involved in a diverse range of activities throughout the year, which last year included, our Safe Walking Routes to School Initiative , launching and running the Harry’s Home Village Tour’s where we reached an audience of 1.9 billion people worldwide, running the Holmes Chapel Christmas Market and organising the Santa Sleigh runs over 15 evenings in December which raises much needed funds for 10 local groups and causes who help us to bring Santa to your doors each year. You can nd a link to what volunteer positions we have here www.hcpartnership.org.uk/jobsAnd nally, may I wish you all a healthy and prosperous New Year!Find all the routes at:www.hcpartnership.org.uk/walkingandcyclingroutes

64Dinner in the Grill & Smokehouse Restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. We began with two delicious starters: Traditional Morecambe Bay Potted Shrimp, served with warm, buttered crumpets that melted in the mouth, and their Signature Treacle Cured Smoked Salmon, delicately smoked over whiskey barrel wood On a chilly winter evening, what could be more inviting than a classic English country inn, with roaring res, rustic wooden beams, and an atmosphere steeped in history? The Wild Boar Estate in the heart of the Lake District oers all this and so much more. Nestled in the serene Gilpin Valley, halfway between Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere, this charming inn provided the ideal escape for my mum and me—a chance to reconnect, relax, and indulge in some truly memorable experiences. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the inn’s warmth and character. The lounge welcomed us with its crackling open res and cozy nooks, perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine (or two!). The decor struck the perfect balance between rustic charm and boutique comfort—think original oak beams, snug seating, and quirky touches that make the place feel truly unique. For mains, I opted for the rib-eye steak, perfectly cooked and rich with avors from their in-house smokehouse, while Mum enjoyed the slow-cooked lamb shank, tender and seasoned to perfection, falling eortlessly o the bone. Every bite was an absolute treat. The meal ended on a high note with two standout desserts: the creamy Baked Ribblesdale Curd Cheesecake accompanied by tangy poached blackberries, and the Smoked Cumberland Farmhouse Cheese, served with homemade tea bread and a drizzle of mead—a delightful and unique nish to a perfect meal. Our room was a delight: individually styled, with a big comfy bed, uy pillows, and a bath we didn’t want to leave. It felt like a little haven of luxury, with all the cozy charm of a traditional inn. Before heading home, we took a short stroll through the estate’s 72 acres of private woodland, exploring the peaceful tarns and hidden corners. For those with more time, the Wild Boar oers exciting activities like archery, clay pigeon shooting, and even axe throwing—perfect for an adventurous twist to a country break. With its location in the Lake District National Park, The Wild Boar Estate is the perfect base for exploring nearby Windermere, Bowness, and Kendal. Though we only stayed for one night, we made the most of our trip, squeezing in a scenic drive and a peek at the stunning Lake Windermere before heading back to claim our spot by the roaring re. Our mum-and-daughter getaway was everything we hoped for: relaxing, indulgent, and full of charm. The food was outstanding, the sta were warm and attentive, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Whether for a romantic escape, a family break, or a foodie adventure, The Wild Boar Estate oers an unforgettable experience. As we packed up to leave, I couldn’t help but think how perfect The Wild Boar Estate would be for another visit—this time with my husband. The cozy res, exceptional food, and peaceful woodland walks make it an ideal setting for a romantic getaway. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I can already imagine us enjoying a candlelit dinner, toasting with a glass of wine in the lounge, and strolling hand-in-hand through the frosty woodland paths. This charming retreat is tailor-made for moments like these—full of romance, relaxation, and memories waiting to be made.

70you are able to drop someone o or collect them outside the Health Centre. This is possible because there is a very short grace period of a few minutes for cars to enter and leave the carpark. Please note, that this is less than 10 minutes so waiting will not be possible. This is only meant to be used as a patient drop o or pick up facility, and you need to leave immediately. You can pick up later, but again there is only a short period of a few minutes to do so. Failure to comply with this will result in a ticket. We recommend that drop os are done at the library car park where there are no cameras, or on the precinct where you have a longer period of free parking. Is there any allowance for Blue Badge holders? Yes, Blue Badge holders can park on the Health Centre car park. If you chose to do so, you must only park in the disabled spaces. Once you have parked, we would be grateful if you could present the Blue Badge details AND your car registration number to the reception desk. We would ask that you follow this process for every appointment. If there are no free spaces, then we are sorry, but you must nd somewhere else to park. Do not park your car in any other free space, or leave it parked anywhere else in the car park.Have you considered vulnerable patients that don’t understand/ get caught out innocently?Yes, the GP’s and the Practise management team have sent out text messages, letters and notices to all patients. For the past month, they have been issuing letters to patients as they come into the Health Centre informing them that this will be happening. Once enforcement starts there will be clear signage explaining the rules and conrming that the car park is for sta only, all of which means that there will be no excuse for people to claim ignorance or get caught out innocently. It is simple, if you are not a member of sta, or have a Blue Badge and have registered it with the surgery on the day of your appointment, do not park at the Health Centre. Can I still call Communicare and will they be able to drop me o at the surgery?Communicare is still operating, they are following the same process as Blue Badge holders. The surgery has been in touch with the Communicare team to inform them of the procedure they need to take. Essentially, this procedure is the same as that for Blue Badge holders in that Communicare drivers can park in a space and come to the reception desk where the team would ask for their Communicare ID badge and car registration. They then return to their vehicle to assist the patient from their vehicle into the surgery. Are any other services impacted?Medication can be collected as usual from the pharmacy. After 3pm there is free parking on the adjacent library car park, and before that there is free parking on the precinct This issue’s update from the PPG is centred solely around the changes to the car parking. It won’t come as a surprise to you that the management team at the Health Centre, along with us on the PPG, have been inundated with questions since the surgery announced they would be installing cameras. With that in mind, here’s a run-down of the most frequently asked questions along with the responses from the Health Centre. What is happening to the car park at the HCHC?The decision has been made to designate the car park at the front of the surgery as sta only parking. This is because a signicant number of drivers ignored repeated requests to park only in marked bays, causing doctors to be delayed when trying to leave and tend to sick patients, and ambulances to struggle to reach the surgery. In addition to this, Cheshire East has now implemented a Pay and Display policy across all its own carparks. These factors have combined to necessitate a change to the previous open car park policy. To implement this new policy, an external parking company has installed automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras around the car park and are now monitoring the car park. This decision has not been taken lightly and follows months of discussion. What does this mean for me as a patient? If you yourself have an appointment at the surgery and choose to drive in, you need to now park in any of the other car parks in the village and walk to the surgery. If you are bringing someone into the surgery for an appointment, then Patient Participation Group Rich JepsonHolmes Chapel Health Centre PPGfor 3 hours. Whilst there is a short grace period for drop os, patients are reminded that this is not appropriate for collection of medication as there may be a short wait depending on demand at the counter. The same rules apply to customers of The Toleman Opticians. Customers with an appointment would need to nd alternative parking. Drop o or picking up is possible if completed within a few minutes, but again we recommend drop o on the library car park. Toleman customers with a Blue Badge will be able to park if there are spaces available and they comply with the process as described above. Is the Health Centre beneting nancially from parking?Absolutely not! Despite some of the completely false and inaccurate comments on social media, the Health Centre does not and will not benet nancially from parking nes. The parking service is managed entirely by the parking company, and has in fact, cost the surgery nancially to introduce. What happens if I get a ticket and have a special circumstance?None of the HCHC sta or partners have anything to do with parking tickets. Because this is entirely run by an external company, they don’t have any inuence on the issuing of tickets. The team at the surgery have been reassured that there is a robust appeals process, so any problems should be directed to the parking company helpline where they will deal with your query. Why can’t the car park be used out of hours when the Health Centre is closed? The ANPR cameras work 24/7, and within the contract it is not possible to specify any exemptions. Patients are reminded that the Health Centre car park is a private car park and is not the only car park in Holmes Chapel that is camera controlled or pay and display. The open nature of the car park has been abused in the past, as people have chosen to park before going to the airport or parking overnight and stopping sta from parking etc.I think this about covers it all, but as usual if there are any other questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with anyone on the PPG or the direct with the surgery.

74Hi, I’m Charlotte, and I’ve been running Charlotte’s Pawfect Pet Sitting & Dog Walking for almost ten years now. What began as house sitting has evolved into dog walking and home visits for puppies, cats, and small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs. Growing up surrounded by animals—dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, and sh—I’ve always had a deep love for animals and caring for them feels second nature. Today, I share my home with two beautiful Siamese x Ragdoll cats, who I absolutely adore. My passion for working with animals isn’t just a career choice—it’s a way of life. Few things bring me more joy than being out in the fresh air with a happy, tail-wagging companion by my side. I treat every pet as if they’re my own, oering them the care, love, and attention they deserve while ensuring you have peace of mind.If you’ve ever wondered why hiring a dog walker is so important, let me explain. Busy Schedules and Long Days Life can be hectic, and balancing work and home responsibilities often means you’re out for longer than planned. When this happens, it’s reassuring to know your dog is being cared for during the day. A dog walker can provide a much-needed break, a chance to stretch their legs, and lots of attention to keep them happy and content until you’re back. It’s all about making sure your dog stays comfortable and loved, no matter how busy life gets.Keeping Your Dog HealthyDogs need regular exercise to stay t and healthy. Like humans, a lack of exercise can lead to obesity, and with 1 in 14 dogs in the UK now considered overweight, this is a real concern. Obesity can result in serious health Happy Pets, Happy Life!by Charlotte Pawfect Pet Sittingproblems that lower your dog’s quality of life. Regular walks help keep your dog active, engaged, and at a healthy weight.Socialisation MattersDogs are naturally social creatures, and regular walks provide them with the stimulation and interaction they need. Whether it’s exploring new scents, meeting other dogs, or simply getting outside, walks are vital for their mental well-being. This is especially important if you have a high-energy breed like Spaniels, Collies, or Jack Russells, who need plenty of daily activity to prevent boredom or behavioural issues.Support for Young and Old DogsIf you have a puppy that’s learning routines or an older dog with bathroom needs, I can tailor visits to suit them. Puppies need short, frequent breaks, while older dogs benet from gentle walks and extra care.Peace of MindHiring a dog walker isn’t just for your dog’s benet—it’s for you, too. Knowing your pet is well-cared for while you’re busy or away allows you to focus on your day without guilt or worry. If you need help with dog walking or pet visits, I’d love to meet you and your furry friends. Let me help you give your pets the care, attention, and happiness they deserve!
